Students Make Dioramas
First and second grade students in Mrs. Lape's class are pictured with the dioramas that they made.  Each student
was required to pick an animal and do research on its habitat. The research invovled using the encyclopedia, library
books, and the Internet. Then they made a diorama of the animal's habitat.
St. Paul Students Help Local Food Pantry
For the months of November and December, the students at St. Paul Lutheran School, Milford Center, Oh. collected
food to go to the local food pantry in Milford Center. The offering collected in chapel during these months also was
given to the food pantry. Pictured are Linda LeMaster, the director of the food pantry, along with students Hannah
Dees, Hannah Burns, Amanda Dellinger, and Frances Nicol.
St. Paul Students Learn the Scientific Method
The third and fourth grade students at St. Paul Lutheran school of Milford Center recently completed
a science unit involving the scientific method.

The project questions of each group were different and related to the strength of different bridge designs.After
experimentation, documentation, and design of charts and graphs supporting their conclusions, some groups found
their hypothesis to be correct, and some were incorrect.The ending activity included a bridge design contest.  
Using materials consisting of2 sheets of paper, 4 straws and 2 stacks of books, each group presented their strongest
design and competed against each other.The winning team was A&H Bridges, with members Audrey Scheiderer, and
Hannah Rausch.  Their bridge design held an amazing 1034 pennies.  The second place team was KMZ Bridges,
with members Keith Boggs, Mitchell Toth and Zeke Dees.  Their bridge design held 1006 pennies.  All teams
worked hard and had a great learning experience.
St. Paul Lutheran School Science Fair
St. Paul Lutheran School held its annual Science Fair on Wednesday, February 18, 2009.  
Students in grades 5-7 in Mrs. Sandy Irwin's class competed.  All of her students participated and presented a
variety of projects from the areas of environmental, life, and physical science.

Every student was awarded a rank of at least Excellent, with two students receiving a Superior rating.  Amanda
Dellinger, grade 7 researched "Does Soil Type Affect the Absorption of Liquid Pollutants?'  Frances Boggs, grade 5,
investigated "Is Diatomaceous Earth Effective in Reducing Equine Worms?"  Both of these students will be eligible
to compete in the North Central District Science Day at Ohio State University at Marion on March 21, 2009.

Spelling Bee Winner
Amanda Dellinger, grade 7, was deemed the winner
of the St. Paul Lutheran School Spelling Bee on
February 13, 2009.  After a long battle with
runner-up, Hannah Dees, she won by spelling the
word artichoke.  Amanda is eligible to participate
at the regional spelling bee at Centennial High
School in Columbus on March 7, 2009.
