| Band It's Tradition October is one of traditions. The first Monday is our annual CEA Wiener Roast. The activity begins at 6:30 p.m. in the shelter house with grilled hotdogs and all the fixin's. Lots of play time and a candy hunt rounds off the evening. Also a tradition is the annual Harvest Party on Wednesday evening, October 26, beginning at 6:30 p.m. Students and their siblings(mom and dad, too, if desired) can dress in costumes. Prizes are given, and costumes should be book or Bible characters or other appropriate mode of dress. We ask that no inappropriate costumes be used. Following ou parade of costumes games will be provided for various age groups and all will enjoy doughnuts and cider. The evening should be finished by 8:30 p.m. Another tradition is our annual Lutheran Teachers' Conference. This means no school for the students. This falls on October 13 and 14 this year. Enjoy your extra days of vacation while teachers are busily learning new methods of teaching, learning more about standards, etc. The Amazing race is a newer tradition. This year the Race will be on Sunday, October 23. It will begin at 3 p.m. at St. Paul's and participants will finish at Trinity. Be sure teams are at St. Paul's before 3 p.m. Field Trips More field trips are being set up. Kindergarten went on two in September, namely to Carlton Rausch's garden and apple orchard and then to the zoo. Grades 1 and 2 will be going to the Ohio Historical Center on October 21. Grades 3 through 7 are working on setting up a field trip on November 16. More news to follow. Class Trip Fundraiser Sixth and seventh graders will be participating in the Christmas Greenery fundraiser through Foertmeyer's Nursery. The kickoff will be October 11. Orders need to be returned by November 1 for a December 1 delivery. This will probably be the last time we will venture outside of our country. The United States has set a rule for land travel into the US, one must have a passport. It goes into effect at the end of 2006. The trip is expensive enough without the added expense of a passport. We will once again enjoy Niagra Falls and Toronto in May of 2006. Who knows where we will go in 2008? It will be a surprise. Why Are the Praisemakers in the Balcony? That was a question heard several times. The answer: We can hear them better, and they can be heard on the tape recording better. The September song was well heard and that is what we want to hear. No longer will they need to dress in white tops and black slacks or skirts. CEA Meeting Highlights The CEA met September 12, 2005. The meeting began with a Teacher Trivia Contest. Did you know Mrs. Boerger had to cut up worms for her brother's turtle? Mrs. Dellinger's Great Grandfather fought in the Civil War? Mrs. Vollrath stayed at an Indian Reservation in Montana over spring break while she was in college? Miss Herron sneezed and hit her head on a dresser so hard she got a concussion? Miss Kunze was lost in a foreign country and had to group the next day? Mrs. Renner was born in Kansas? We learned these and other interesting tidbits we didn't know about our teachers.
